The PlayReady team, working in conjunction with the Windows Azure Media Services team is pleased to announce the availability of the Microsoft Smooth Streaming Client 2.5 with MPEG DASH support. This release adds the ability to parse and play MPEG DASH manifests in the Smooth Streaming Media Engine (SSME) to provide a Windows7/Windows8 and MacOS solution using MPEG DASH for On-Demand scenarios.

We are pleased to announce that Windows Azure Media Services team released a RTW version of Microsoft Smooth Streaming plugin for OSMF.  Using Smooth Streaming OSMF plugin, you can add Smooth Streaming capabilities to existing OSMF and Strobe Media Playback players and furthermore build rich media experiences for Adobe Flash Player endpoints using the same back-end infrastructure you use today to target Smooth Streaming playback to other devices like Win8 store apps, browser and so on. This version of the Smooth Streaming plugin includes the following capabilities and works with OSMF 2.0 APIs:

Today, we are excited to announce the RTW of Smooth Streaming Client SDK for Windows 8, which provides many improvements, a number of bug fixes and added new features to integrate Smooth Streaming to video and media element in Windows 8 Store apps.

The Smooth Streaming Client SDK for Windows 8 enables playback of Smooth Streaming content in conjunction with the Windows 8 HTML5< video> element and XAML MediaElement by using the default APIs such as Play and Pause. Besides basic playback, the Smooth Streaming SDK has rich features like the ability to restrict the quality levels, do Live DVR, switch audio streams, and listen for status updates (such as quality level changes) and error events, and so on.

Today, we are excited to announce the Beta 2 release of Smooth Streaming Client SDK for Windows 8, which provides many improvements, added new features to integrate Smooth Streaming to video and media element in Windows 8 Store apps and supports the Windows 8 RTM.

Today, after the release of Windows 8 Release Preview (RP), we are excited to announce the Beta1 refresh of Smooth Streaming Client SDK for Windows 8, which provides many improvements, added new features to integrate Smooth Streaming to video and media element in Windows 8 apps and supports the new Win8 RP.
