Below is a new Microsoft video about a company called Exostar.  Using Windows Server Active Directory Federation Services, Certificate Server, and Forefront Security, Exostar enables global aerospace companies, such as BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Rolls-Royce, to securely collaborate via hosted SharePoint Server 2007.  This is a good example of what we are calling "Business Ready Security."

They say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but there’s no way we can keep to ourselves what was announced this morning here at MIX09. At our annual conference for Web developers and designers, Corporate VP Scott Guthrie, who runs our .NET Developer Platform group, unveiled a host of new releases and technologies that will make a huge difference to anyone building Web solutions on the Microsoft Web Platform.

The old IIS Extensions train keeps on rollin’. Last month we hit RTW with the Web Platform Installer V1.0 (Why do we call it V1.0? Just wait until you see V2.0) and as you know, Web PI is the one-stop shop for discovering, downloading and installing the various components of the Microsoft Web Platform, be they application server modules, drivers, tools or IIS extensions. And while you’re over checking that out, take a look at the new version of Microsoft.com/Web, which provides a lot more detail on why the Microsoft Web Platform is the software of choice for building Web applications and solutions. It also has a pretty flower, which we thought was kinda apt for Valentine’s Day.

Do you remember the tale of the Windows Server 2008 “Lone Server”? Maybe it was read to you as a bedtime story as a change from “Mommy, Why Is There a Server in the House?” There he was, this poor Windows Server 2003 server, all alone in a server farm of Windows Server 2008 machines. Out-of-date. Out-of-style. Out-of-touch with the needs of modern Web server administrators.

After months of hard work, the IIS development team has put together a brand new technical reference on IIS 7.0 configuration.

Microsofties are often described as “work hard, play hard” types, and that can be no truer than when applied to the IIS team. Over the last few weeks, we have been out in force to deliver the good word about IIS 7.0 and IIS Extensions at conferences and gatherings around the globe, including TechEd Hong Kong, PDC in Los Angeles, TechEd EMEA in Barcelona, and even Digital Hollywood. But even with such a hectic travel schedule, our development team still has been cranking out new Extension updates, with three more in the last few days alone.

Very recently, we announced the availability of the Microsoft Web Platform Installer (Web PI) in Beta. If you remember, this is a tool that allows you to obtain and install Web server components, development tools and database technologies to implement an integrated Web platform for your development or hosting environment, and that provides end-to-end functionality to support ASP.NET, PHP, and other types of Web application.
