Silverlight and Premium Media Experiences
Given the speed at which web technologies seem to be evolving, partners and customers often ask about the roadmap for Silverlight, with many of those conversations centered around premium media experiences. In short, there are many reasons why Silverlight will continue to extend the web by enabling rich experience scenarios in unique and high-value ways. These scenarios include premium media experiences with features such as:
- Single-encode IIS Smooth Streaming delivery across computers, TVs, and mobile devices
- Friction-free content protection with PlayReady DRM, coming soon as a built-in feature in IIS Media Services
- Live webcasting with full DVR and Trick Play controls, such as seen during the 2010 French Open
- Live webcasting with multiple camera angles, such as seen during the AVP Nivea Tour Hermosa Beach Open volleyball tournament
- Live 1080p streaming of stereoscopic 3D video
- Full analytics support with the Silverlight Analytics Framework
