Silverlight nominated for a Crunchies 2009 award

Microsoft Silverlight is in the running for a 2009 Crunchies Award for Best Technology Achievement. If, like me, you find Silverlight to be a compelling new technology that enables rich interactive media experiences, please feel free to vote for it today.

The Crunchies Awards, co-hosted for 2009 by GigaOm, VentureBeat, and TechCrunch, is an annual competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling startups, Internet and technology innovations of the year. You, as part of the broader Internet community, are invited to choose who wins.

Voting is open through midnight PST on January 6th for the 2009 Crunchies Awards. Everyone is eligible and encouraged to vote once per day per award category. The 18 award categories recognize accomplishments across a variety of fields and roles.

Especially when Silverlight is combined with IIS Smooth Streaming, part of IIS Media Services, you get great interactive video experiences, such as seen in 2009 with live streaming, DVR controls, multiple camera angles, and live chat for NBC Sunday Night Football. You will also see these technologies used for live and on-demand streaming of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
