I am not new to posting about IIS on the internet. A quick newsgroup search reminds me that I've posted to around 900 threads related to IIS. The first time was on June 10, 1997, where I helped someone to get "server

re: Understanding FastCGI Settings for IIS 5.1 & 6

IIS7?

How does a FastCGI application detect when the host is terminating the process?

The Docs say:

The FCGI_Accept blocks execution until a client request comes in, and then returns 0.

If there is a system failure, or the system administrator terminates

the process, Accept will return -1

On my Windows IIS system FCGI_Accept() does NOT return anything so my cleanup code never gets executed.

Thanks Wadeh for this useful page! without this I think I wouldn't be able to start IIS... What I would like to know is how to run a custom FastCGI application. In my case I'm trying to run IIPImage (http://iipimage.sf.net) but with no results and there is a big lack of documentation on that subject (apart from your blog!)

thank,

According to the FastCGI specification, the web server should be able to connect to remove FastCGI applications via protocols such as TCP/IP, and be able to forward request to multiple instances of the same application, so that load balancing can be achieved, of course when doing this the web server should be able to do some session affinity magic, does your FastCGI handler offer these functionalities?

Amber, best regards!

BTW: You didn't describe the InstanceMaxRequests setting, although its easy to work out (max number of requests the process will serve before being recycled).
