Hey Jon,

Can you possibly post the exact information you are putting into the Script Map form? Is it identical to what I listed above?

Also...You might want to try VS 2005 R2 SP1 as it should "IIS7 enable" it. In the case above, the SP1 bits weren't released and this was causing failures. You can download SP1 for R2 here - technet.microsoft.com/.../bb738033.aspx.

If this doesn't work, then I will help you push through the manual steps.

Hey I'm trying to follow this guide here and I keep getting stuck at the "Install the CGI for Virtual Server" step.

I'm running IIS 7.0 on Vista Ultimate x64 and when I get the 'Add Script Map' box where I choose Yes, No or Cancel, I choose yes and get a msgbox with the following: There was an error while performing this operation. Details: Illegal characters in path.

Any ideas?

Hey Paul,

I was using the default port (1024) which the install took care of adding to the LHS firewall exception list. If you changed the default install port to say 5900 then my *guess* is that you should add a new inbound rule for 5900 - not sure if the setup.exe is smart enough to do this automatically.

Have you tried this?

I used these instructions and they *almost* worked. I get the web admin console to load but then it fails to connect to the virtual server. It gives an error message of "Could not connect to the Virtual Server on “servername”."

Any ideas what could be blocking it from getting through? Is that using port 5900 or just port 1024?

Hey,

Actually, I just checked and I did have a problem. SP1 beta2 basically rendered me broken in the console. I have no idea what they did and I didn't back track, but instead, simply re-intalled the R2 RTM bits and followed these instructions in this blog and had no problems. I would highly suggest waiting for RTM of the SP1.

NOTE: I am using x64 builds and not x86 which potentially could be a breaking point (unsure)

Hey hubertsvk,

I just rebuilt this weekend (yes, for you :P) to see what would happen. I didn't have any problem on Vista as long as you stopped the Virtual Server services. Did you do this?

Beyond that, I didn't have any problem...
