Launch: No Better Feeling...

On the Road

Since November of '05, I have had one focus and that was the building of this brand-new website called www.iis.net.  This was a personal challenge because it was one of the few times that I had to depend heavily on several people to push it all together.  Tuesday, this project hit a major milestone becoming a integral piece to the future of the IIS community which is my focus on the IIS Product Unit.

As does most things worth celebrating, I found myself with a cold beer in my hand sitting in a room in Slovenia preparing for a presentation at the time of launch.  I, sadly, had to celebrate this big occasion alone looking out into the Adriatic Sea.

IIS.NET birth

I can't realistically thank everyone who helped make this website a real thing.  I am proud of all the different aspects of the site each one often owned by one person or another.  The project was small but it was the greatest task & project I have ever had the pleasure to work on.  I have worked with some small design teams on tools such as SSLDiag & AuthDiag, but never before one as large as this one.  The shear magnitude of having 10+ people involved was as rewarding as it was frustrating.  I did lose sleep during the process unfortunately...

The Future...

I can't give away all the secrets but we still have some big plans for this site.  Beyond watching the content grow in the TechCENTER, and watching blogs continue to grow as the product team starts to learn how to use it, we have some cool remaining features that were not put in because of shear time.  If you have suggestions, then please use the Site Feedback forum and I will get it and do my best to take your suggestion and put it into production.

I am so happy that we now have a place we call home...
